Why Petrol head EFi & Diesel head Fuel Injection???

Dear all,
Assalam-o-Alaikum, brothers I was thinking about it that why in Pakistan or in several foreign countries the petrol engine is an EFi & Diesel is a Fuel Injection? Please tell me so that I can gain more & more knowledge.

main reason for the different terms is ease of understanding. EFi is (as mantioned above) electronic fuel injection. now the word fuel can either be petrol or deisel but people have adopted EFi to mean petrol.

however ther eare many variations on the name (for both petrol and diesel) such as GDI, D4d, CDi, CGi etc all mean about the same thing.
