WTF ? Windshield broke all by itself!

So I was driving today. all of a sudden a crack appeared on the Windshield. I think a tiny pebble came flying and hit the screen. The question is, how can such a small thing be so harmful . Now I gotta replace the entire windscreen and im pretty sure it wont cost less than 15k for a brand new original one. I think the pebble came from the bike's tyre that was ahead of me. Speed was normal too, around 70kmph.
