Chevrolet Car Reviews

After having a great experience with the Chevrolet Exclusive and Optra, I finally got the Chevrolet Cruze. Unfortunately, the engine was in poor condition due to modifications by local mechanics. I had it overhauled at M/S Suntech and imported parts directly from GM Motors Korea. The car is excellent in terms of build quality, drive, and advanced options. It gives 8 to 9 km/l in the city and over 15 km/l on long routes. The Cruze stands as the largest and quietest compact car. It’s the first true global effort from General Motors, available in 61 countries worldwide. It’s truly my dream car!

Exterior
Looking back at the 2002-2008 period, the Chevrolet Optra’s exterior design was stunning, competing with the likes of the Pakistani GLI and Civic. Even in 2020, when I own this car, I’m still very happy with its appearance.

Interior
Having driven a Honda City 2009 and Baleno, I find the Optra’s interior far superior. It still looks pristine, with no cracks o r issues, and it gives off a luxurious feel.

Engine
The car features a 1.6-liter engine. The previous owner didn’t take much care of the engine, so I had to go for an overhaul. Currently, I’m in the running-in period, following the mechanics advice to keep it under 2000 rpm. Even during this period, the engine response is excellent.

Fuel Average
Fuel economy is an important factor for many, and while the Optra is not the best in class, it’s decent. On long routes, I get around 10 km/l with the engine still in the running period, but in the city, it s to around 8 km/l, especially without AC. It’s average when compared to other 1.6-liter cars like the GLI.

Recently, I bought a Chevrolet Optra 2009 1.6, and I’m satisfied with the car. The only downside was the fuel consumption, but I installed an LPG system, and with LPG prices in Algeria, it’s now more efficient—500 km for just 02 €. I’m really enjoying my time with the Optra!

Affordable Luxury For The Whole Family

Jan 30 2025

It may sound strange to some, but its true—this car is way better than Mehran, Cultus, Santro, o r Alto. Before buying, I took a test drive in Islamabad with one of my cousins, who always bragged about his car. We decided to take it to Abbottabad and Murree, and I couldn’t believe how it performed with AC on—it drove like a beast! Even Civic owners were astonished by its power. Before this car, I was driving my father’s 2.0D Corolla, which is a powerful vehicle in the mountains. But after this drive, I immediately decided to buy it.

Now, I’ve had it for 3 years and have driven over 100k kilometers. It’s comfortable and, in my eyes, definitely a level up. One thing to note—its fuel economy is a bit low at 8-9 km/l in the city, but on long drives, it gives 14-16 km/l. The one I own is the 800cc imported version, and I also have the Pakistani 2007 1000cc version, but it can’t compare to mine.

Exterior
A solid body with excellent paint quality and a highly aerodynamic shape, especially for a car over 13 years old. As an official Japanese import, its build quality surpasses the local version, JOY.

Interior
The interior is robust, with ample leg and head space. The seats are comfortable, the ride is smooth, and the cabin noise is minimal, providing a quiet and pleasant driving experience.

Performance
The performance is impressive with great pick-up. It features a 5-speed manual transmission, and the gearbox is flawless—smooth shifting with no play. The AC works excellently, though it does put a strain on the engine, which you can feel as a in performance.

Fuel Economy
City with AC: 11-12 km/l
City without AC: 13-15 km/l
Highway mixed AC usage: 15-17 km/l
Features
Power steering
Power windows front doors
Large dashboard
Rear wiper with washer
Front door speakers
Don’t buy into the resale myths—this car outperforms Mehran, Alto, Coure, and Cultus by a long shot.
