The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology announced that 38 electric buses are set to start to run on the roads of the capital city of Islamabad and this service will be launched from December. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Minister of Science and Technology and CEO of European Electric Bus Manufacturing Company, EGV last Monday and the minister told media that the manufacturer of these buses will invest $4 billion to set up electric bus manufacturing plant in Pakistan. This is the second big MoU signing looking to introduce electric buses to Pakistan about two months ago as Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service has formed the alliance with Skywell Automobile, which is the Chinese automaker and it has introduced the electric buses in Pakistan.

3 Dozen Electric Buses in Islamabad by December


The Minister also told that the Federal Government will import 120 electric buses before the end of 2020 and the electric buses local manufacturing will be started by 2021. The government has also decided to install electric vehicle charging stations on motorways all over the country. There will be great progress on this front in coming six months.
