On August 25, a devastating event shook Pakistan as four members of a family from Lahore tragically died on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway close to the Bhera Interchange. The family, en route from Lahore to Islamabad, was discovered unconscious in their vehicle by officers from the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) during a routine patrol.

Initial Investigations

At first, authorities suspected that the family's deaths might have been caused by food poisoning, as they had eaten during their journey. However, subsequent forensic examinations uncovered a far more sinister cause: carbon monoxide poisoning. The hazardous gas had accumulated in the vehicle, resulting in the unfortunate fatalities.

The deceased were identified as Romila, 60, Mahwish, 30, Samar, 28, and four-year-old Aun. Despite efforts to save them, they tragically succumbed to the effects of the toxic gas. A fifth family member, Umar Qasim, aged 30, remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

The gas, which is both colorless and odorless, led to asphyxiation in the victims.
