Audi TT Production Ends with the Final Car

Audi TT Production Ends with the Final Car
For the past year or so, Audi has been bidding farewell to the final versions of its TT sports car across various global markets. Recently, marking the end of a 25-year journey spanning three generations, the very last Audi TT rolled off the production line in Hungary. Audi shared images of this final celebratory unit on its social media platforms.
The significance of this moment was underscored by the presence of the original 1995 TT Coupe and TT Roadster concepts, accompanied by two second-generation vehicles, alongside a flower-decorated third-generation TTS Coupe. The windshield carried an inscription revealing that a total of 662,762 Audi TTs were crafted at the Györ facility in Hungary, spanning from February 18, 1998, to November 10, 2023.
The last Audi TTS showcased dark chrome matte details and was elegantly finished in Chronos Gray Metallic. Though the profile remains somewhat concealed, it suggests a bronze selection specification, typically featuring 20-inch wheels painted in black or matte bronze with corresponding four-ring designs. Powering the final TTS was a 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine producing 315 hp. Despite the production's conclusion, the Audi TT will still be available for purchase until the remaining stock is depleted.
The "TT" model name carries historical significance, harkening back to the legendary Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man—an iconic motorsports event where Auto Union brands celebrated successes. NSU, one of those brands, later used the TT nomenclature to honor its historic race championship on the sporty small car, the TT Prinz.
In 1998, Audi introduced the TT Coupe to the world, followed by a Roadster model just a year later. Over the years, three generations of TT models were released, with the current one making its debut almost a decade ago in 2014. Each generation featured distinctive designs and technological innovations, including the electronically deployable rear spoiler, Audi virtual cockpit, and the first Audi with available OLED taillights. The discontinuation of the Audi TT, known as one of the most affordable sports cars globally, marks the end of an era characterized by iconic design for the renowned German brand with the four interlinked rings.
