Babar Azam Receives First 'Made in Pakistan' MG Essence

Javed Afridi made headlines in February with the announcement that Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam would be the proud recipient of the inaugural "Made in Pakistan MG HS Essence." In a departure from tradition, Afridi took to Twitter to unveil the news, stating, "MG gift for Babar Azam. He will be the first to drive MG Essence. Made in Pakistan." True to his word, MG Pakistan has now delivered on its promise, officially presenting the crossover SUV to the esteemed right-handed batsman.

Afridi shared the milestone moment through a tweet, showcasing Babar Azam receiving the white-colored car in a series of photographs. The images depict the captain alongside MG officials, as he graciously accepts the key, signs a commemorative white t-shirt, and embarks on a test drive in his new acquisition. The gesture underscores MG Pakistan's commitment to both innovation and fostering partnerships within the sports community.

Babar Azam, known for his passion for automobiles, boasts a diverse and prestigious car collection. Among his prized possessions is the Audi A5, a vehicle he frequently navigates on Pakistani roads. Additionally, he acquired a BJ40 Plus following a notable series between Pakistan and Australia, and was spotted in a Hyundai Sonata during a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ceremony. Notably, Azam was gifted an Audi e-Tron GT by his family following a successful tour to Sri Lanka last year. The inclusion of the MG HS Essence adds a thrilling dimension to his growing repertoire of automobiles.

This latest offering of the MG HS Essence to Babar Azam serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between Afridi's Peshawar Zalmi and the talented cricketer, who has led the team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for consecutive seasons. Promised in recognition of Azam's stellar century performance in the last PSL, the car exemplifies the fusion of sportsmanship and corporate support within the realm of Pakistani cricket.
