Bike Production Slumps for First Time Since 2000

After the field of cars, because of the low economy of our country, the increasing prices of motorbikes are destroying the bike industry of Pakistan. Besides the poor economy, from the past two decades, 1999-2000 to 2021-22, the production of motorcycles has been observed, and in this field consistent growth of the production of motor vehicles. As per the media reports, it is the first time in 20 years, It has been observed that bike production had an awful downtrend in 2022-2023.

Bike users are normally related to a lower middle class, those people who get a fixed salary every month that is less than 30 thousand, they cannot buy these expensive bikes. The reason behind this tragedy is a sudden increase in the price of motorbikes.

However, less progress in the agriculture sector also can be another reason, as most of the middle-class people live in villages, that are now affected by the flood disaster.

What Sales Chart Exhibits?

According to the sales data, the Japanese bike industry “Honda” made 1.35 units million motorcycles during the other bikes industries, consisting of Yamaha and Suzuki sold 1.25 million units combined.

We can see the exact image of the calamity in PAMA statistics. In the first five months of the financial year 2022-23, the Industry made 521,643 motorcycles against 797,346 units made in relation to the period of last year. Meaning a vehement drop of 34% on a year-on-year (YOY) basis.

Comes to Honda, the industry made 563,268 units in July-November 2021. However, manufacturing has dropped to 435,390 bikes – declining by 22%. Specialists believe that the import restraints are also responsible for the present situation of the bike company.
