BYD Seagull EV Hits 200K Units Milestone

Chinese automotive giant BYD continues its electric vehicle triumph, with the Seagull EV achieving a remarkable milestone of surpassing 200,000 units in China. Launched in late April 2023, the BYD Seagull accomplished this feat in just seven months since its market debut. Impressively, it took approximately 4.5 months to exceed the 100,000 mark, and a mere 70 days to add another 100,000 units. October marked a milestone month for the small EV, recording its highest-ever sales at 43,350 units.

Positioned as an entry-level offering in BYD's extensive lineup, the Seagull comes with a price tag ranging from 73,800 yuan to 89,800 yuan ($10,400 to $12,600). Within the fiercely competitive Chinese EV market, the Seagull has carved out a distinctive place for itself. Measuring at 3,780/1,715/1,540 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm, the Seagull surpasses its counterparts like the Wagon R in length and offers greater width than the Alto. Its generous wheelbase translates into enhanced interior space for occupants.

Beneath its sleek exterior, the BYD Seagull houses a robust 55 kW (75 hp) motor, propelling it to a top speed of 130 km/h. The electric vehicle provides two battery options – a 30 kWh LFP battery with a 305 km CLTC driving range and a 38 kWh LFP battery offering an extended 405 km CLTC range. Notably, both battery configurations support DC fast charging, enabling the Seagull to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes. With this milestone and its impressive features, the BYD Seagull solidifies BYD's position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
