BYD Song L Now Available for Purchase in China

The much-anticipated BYD Song L has officially hit the Chinese market, offering consumers a range of options with prices spanning from 189,800 yuan to 249,800 yuan (approximately $26,700 to $35,200). At the launch event, BYD disclosed that the Song L garnered an impressive 28,350 orders since presales commenced on October 31.

This stylish SUV, part of BYD's Dynasty series, boasts a fastback design and is built on the advanced all-electric e-platform 3.0. Incorporating cutting-edge BYD technologies, such as the Disus-C suspension system, CTB (cell-to-body) battery integration, and an active rear wing, the Song L promises a dynamic and technologically advanced driving experience. Notable exterior features include frameless doors, concealed door handles, and striking 20-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of size, the Song L measures 4,840/1,950/1,560 mm with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. When compared to the Tesla Model Y, it boasts a length that is 90 mm greater and a height that is 64 mm shorter. Inside, the SUV impresses with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch floating rotatable screen, a 50-inch head-up display (AR-HUD), and the latest DiLink technology.

The Song L lineup offers five variants to cater to different preferences and needs. The options include the Exceed Version with a 550 km range, Excellence Version with a 550 km range, Exceed Version with a 662 km range, Excellence Version with a 662 km range, and the Excellence Version with a 602 km 4WD capability. Prices range accordingly from 189,800 yuan to 249,800 yuan.

Under the hood, the BYD Song L provides three powertrain choices: 150 kW with 310 Nm torque (RWD), 230 kW with 360 Nm torque (RWD), and 380 kW with 670 Nm peak torque (AWD). Additionally, there are two battery options, 71.8 kWh and 87.04 kWh, both utilizing BYD-developed LFP Blade batteries. The top-tier trim, equipped with 380 kW (510 hp) dual motors, can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 4.3 seconds. The Song L stands out as a compelling option for those seeking a combination of performance, innovation, and style in the electric SUV market.
