Cars Not Launching in Pak due to Announcements & Leaks
Due to spreading of Coronavirus pandemic, the phase wise shutting down and restart of the economy, the automotive industry of Pakistan has the series of highs and lows in 2020. The auto sector did not manage to prevail and they also welcomed new entrants to its market.
BAIC Lineup
BAIC is the Chinese state own automaker would have made the huge splash in Pakistan during this year after making partnership with Sazgar Engineering Works Limited. This company has introduced three vehicles including D20 hatchback, X25 Crossover and BJ40 SUV during the month of February at PAPS 2020 Autoshow in Lahore. These three vehicles had decent range of features and performance figures and their prices were the most interesting thing. The prices of all these three vehicles were below competition and it has offered strong value.

The sources of the company told that vehicles would start business in the market from mid to late 2020 but the company has been silent on all platforms. Sazgar BAIC made the last announcement through the post of Facebook and they wished Eid Mubarak on the eid day.
Toyota Corolla Cross
It was announced that Toyota would exhibit a new crossover SUV in Pakistan to make the challenge the Toyota C-HR and Honda Vezel/HR-V, Nissan Juke, Suzuki Vitara and other compact crossover SUVs.

Corolla Cross has decent amount of power, sufficient amount of safety and comfort features and decent performance. It seems to receive cold response and it was learnt that it would have initial price of Rs.8.5 million, which can make it more expensive that base-trim Toyota Fortune. It was considered that Corolla Cross will be sold in Pakistani auto market as complete built-up unit and it is imported from Thailand and it is added with hybrid powertrain.
Cherry QQ/United Alpha
United Motors is intending to bring Cherry QQ back to Pakistan and this vehicle will be given the title of ‘United Alpha’. The automaker has 800cc Bravo hatchback in its lineup in order to compete with Suzuki Alto and Prince Pearl. Now this automaker will challenge Kia Picanto and Suzuki Cultus by introducing its new 1000 cc subcompact hatchback.

Karakoram Motors has launched the Chinese hatchback, United Alpha over 10 years ago as Chery QQ. The vehicles like Suzuki Mehran, Daihatsu Cuore, Chevrolet Joy, Hyundai Santro and Fiat Uno are the highly competitive hatchback. Chery QQ could not impress the audience so it was discontinued.
Hyundai Elantra

The newly launched vehicle, Hyundai Elantra has good market and it is compact sedan, which is lacking third option for over a decade. This vehicle is compact sedan to go up against Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3 in international market. Elantra has been displayed at PAPS Autoshow 2020 and it has sharp design to get the attention of large number of crowd. It was also revealed that Elantra would be introduced before end of 2020 but COVID-19 lockdowns put a damper on its plan. Hyundai Nishat has assembled some units of this Elantra and the company has made the plan to put this vehicle on sale during first quarter of 2021. The entire package comes at hefty price and the cost of Elantra will be provided between $18,000 and $22,000 for different trims.
