As the new Auto Policy will be implemented after an official approval by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, the Chairman All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association APDMA, HM Shahzad has forwarded a letter to the Ministry of Finance MOF.

In the letter Chairman APDMA has proposed the government to make changes in the upcoming Auto Policy which is going to be announced after the presentation of 2021-22 budget by the Federal Government.

The APDMA chairman sent letter to the Special Assistant to Prime Minister SAPM on Finance, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.

In the letter, he highlighted that the restriction on the import of vehicles commercially have damaged the local automakers in Pakistan. In this scenario, the new automakers also entered in the market. Resultantly automakers are increasing the prices of their vehicles and defrauding the consumers with the ON MONEY practice.

Further, the automakers are unable to enhance their capabilities of vehicles production due to which the issues like late delivery of the vehicles and on money culture developed in the market.

Finally, the chairman APDMA requested the Ministry of Finance to change the policy and allow commercial import of used cars. He further demanded to extend the policy for low cost and economy car import for middle-class consumers.

APDMA chairman stated in the letter:

Sir, the government has been listening to the assemblers for the last 30 years who have given back nothing to the countrymen except high prices and low quality and safety standards. Why not bring some tabdeely from the past corrupt practices and give the common man a chance?
