Changan Unveils Facelifted 2nd-Gen CS55 Plus SUV in China

The second-generation Changan CS55 Plus SUV, which originally made its debut in March 2021, has received a notable facelift merely two and a half years later. The refreshed CS55 Plus boasts a redesigned front fascia, while the rear and interior aspects have been retained, albeit with subtle enhancements.

Pricing and Dimensions
Offered in three variants, the new Changan CS55 Plus comes with a price range of 99,900 to 113,900 yuan ($13,700 to $15,700). Positioned as a compact SUV, the CS55 Plus measures 4,539 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and stands at 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,656 mm.

Design Highlights
In terms of design, the front grille adopts a frameless design, featuring a broader upper section that tapers down to a narrower lower section, creating an overall trapezoidal shape with mesh-like inserts. This prominent grille is framed by two symmetrical decorative chrome C-strips, with the Changan logo positioned centrally, while another trapezoidal grille sits below the license plate.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for the addition of petal-shaped alloy wheels. At the rear, polygonal taillights sport a total of 128 LED units, a roof spoiler integrates with the high-mounted brake lights, and there are dual circular exhausts at both ends.

Enhanced Interior and Features
Inside, the CS55 Plus retains a 10-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.25-inch floating central control screen. Physical buttons beneath the air conditioning outlets have been removed. Advanced driving assistance features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning. Other configurations comprise a panoramic sunroof, integrated driving recorder, multicolored ambient lighting, voice recognition functionality, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Additionally, the central console has been upgraded with more padding on both sides and a smaller rotary shifter to create space for the wireless charging pad upfront and the cup holder on the right side. The new CS55 Plus adopts a five-seat configuration, with all seats adorned in imitation leather. The driver's seat offers electric adjustment, and the premium version includes second-row armrests and heated front seats.

Power and Efficiency
Powering the CS55 Plus is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 185 hp and peak torque of 300 Nm. The SUV boasts a top speed of 190 km/h and offers a comprehensive fuel consumption rate of 14.4 km per liter.
