Chery Unveils Exeed Sterra ET SUV
Chery's upscale Exeed brand has unveiled its latest offering, the versatile Sterra ET SUV, in China. Positioned in the bustling EV market, the ET provides consumers with a choice between a battery electric model and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), catering to different preferences and needs. As the second model in Exeed's Sterra lineup, this SUV is poised to challenge premium EV rivals, promising innovation and competition.
With a starting price of just RMB 189,800 for the EREV variant and RMB 229,800 for the BEV model, the Sterra ET presents an attractive option for buyers seeking extra mileage without compromising on affordability. Both versions boast impressive acceleration, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, thanks to the robust 195 kW electric motor.
The EREV variants feature a 32 kWh battery with a CLTC-rated range of 200 km on pure electricity, extendable to an astonishing 1,518 km with the gasoline generator. Meanwhile, the BEV version is equipped with a 77 kWh battery, offering a maximum CLTC-rated range of 760 km, with the option to upgrade to a 100 kWh battery for enhanced driving capabilities.
In terms of size, the Sterra ET surpasses its primary EREV competitor, the Li L6, boasting larger dimensions at 4,955 mm x 1,975 mm x 1,698 mm. Additionally, the BEV version offers rapid charging capability, allowing it to charge from 30% to 80% in just 9 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime for drivers.
Initial sales figures for the Sterra ET are promising, with 18,397 orders placed within 18 hours of its market debut. This success follows the launch of the Exeed Sterra ES sedan in December 2023, highlighting Exeed's commitment to delivering a diverse and technologically advanced electric vehicle lineup that meets the evolving needs of consumers.
