Chinese Suzuki Hustler Rival: 200 KM Range on One Charge

Geely's recent introduction, the Panda Knight, represents their latest venture into the realm of electric small SUVs. Revealed through official images on Monday, this electric vehicle (EV) showcases Geely's Geome brand, formerly known as Geometry.

With a design reminiscent of the latest Ford Bronco but in a scaled-down form, the Panda Knight enters the market with distinct styling. Despite its compact dimensions, this EV offers an unexpectedly spacious interior, comfortably accommodating four adults along with their belongings. The cargo capacity is impressive, boasting an 800-liter boot space that can be expanded further by folding down the rear seats.

Enhancing the comfort quotient, the Panda Knight features artificial leather seats with a well-crafted 70 mm foam layer topped by a 5 mm fabric layer. The vehicle's interior is further decked out with notable features such as a 9.2-inch color instrument cluster, an 8-inch center screen, a unique discordant dual-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, a knob-type gear selector, cellphone sensor-free connectivity, APP remote control, Bluetooth key functionality, and more.

Under the hood, a single electric motor powers the drivetrain, generating 40 horsepower and 110 Newton-meters of torque. The vehicle relies on a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery that bestows a range of 200 km on a solitary charge. This battery supports 22 kW DC charging, allowing the EV to be charged from 30% to 80% within just 30 minutes using commercial chargers. Additionally, the Panda Knight can also be charged at 3.3 kW.

Positioned as a formidable contender, the Panda Knight finds itself in competition with the Baojun Yep EV, while its design seems to challenge the Suzuki Hustler and Daihatsu Taft as well. Anticipated for release in the initial half of September, this EV will enter the market at an initial price point of approximately Rs. 2.1 million.
