Competitor to Toyota Corolla launched by Peugeot

Peugeot has introduced a new model all new 408 sedan in China. The car is a direct rival of Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, MG 5 and other C-Segment sedans.

As far as looks are concerned the car maintains a striking design like other modern Peugeot cars. The huge front grille, sharp front bumpers, sharp LED headlights, and the ‘Lion’s Claw’ DRls make a attractive look of the car. Peugeot 408 with good features is a strong contender in the compact sedan market.

The Car has a turbocharged 1.6 liter 4 cylinder petrol engine that will produce 167 horsepower (hp) and 250 Newton meters (NM) of torque, which is sent to the wheels via 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The car has a modern interior look in which its has 10’’ central control screen with piano styled keys and Blue-I 3.0 connectivity. It also contains the i-Cockpit setup and a 12” full LCD instrument cluster and several other features.

Peugeot has debuted in China with a price of PKR 4.3 million starting price, and for reference the Honda City has a starting price of 105,700 yuan (PKR 3.4 million).

Peugeot in Pakistan

In 2008 Peugeot debuted in Pakistan with a warm welcome containing advanced features and striking looks. It never met up to expectation of the customers which prompted Lucky Motor Corporation Limited (LMCL) to offer a discount to this 2008 model.

However, the discount offered soon expired recently bringing the SUV’s back to the price of Rs. 5,250,000. Now in the the recent price hike that occurred in the market has placed Peugeot 2008 in close contender with other subcompact SUVs. Kia Stonic and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro 2008’s prime 2008’s prime competitor also cost to Rs 5 million, which makes the 2008 to a good price.
