Countrywide Strike Announced By Petroleum Association

Due to continuous increase in the prices of Petroleum Products, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association PPDA has announced a nationwide strike and decided to keep all petrol pumps across the closed.

Reason Behind Nationwide Strike

Before, this the b>petrol dealers announced a strike on the profit margin on the petrol sales on 5th November but the strike was called off as the government promised to act upon their demands by 17 November 2021.

Now, the date is passed and government has not fulfilled the demands of the Petroleum dealers according to promise which make them to announce the country wide strike.

According to an official spokesperson:

If the government continues to ignore the association’s demands and keeps on giving it “false consolation”, the strike could extend for an “unspecified period”.

Margin on Petroleum Sales

The current margin on the petroleum sales given to the dealers is 2% which is 3.9 Rs on the current price of the petrol which is 145.8 Rs. This is a very low margin for the dealers. On the other side, the demand of the petroleum dealer is to increase the dealer margin on the petroleum products by 6%, otherwise petrol pumps will remain closed and even asked to cancel the petrol pump licenses if government do not fulfill this demand.
