DFSK Unveils Seres E1 to Rival Wuling Mini EV

Sokonindo Automobile, a collaboration between Sokon Group and Indonesia's Kaisar Motorindo Industri, will produce the E1 under the DFSK brand. This compact city EV enters the arena alongside the MG Comet EV, a similarly sized contender starting at approximately Rs. 2.75 million. DFSK has entered the mini-EV realm with the introduction of the Seres E1 electric vehicle (EV) at this year's Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

The two-door, four-seater EV measures 3,030 mm in length, 1,495 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height, and boasts a 1,960 mm wheelbase. It features two versions equipped with LFP batteries and a single rear-mounted electric motor.

The Standard Range offers a 13.8 kWh battery pack, granting a range of 180 km. The Long Range variant includes a 16.8 kWh battery extending the range to 220 km. For charging, the E1 accommodates a maximum AC electricity input of 3.3 kW, allowing for a charge time of 3.5 to 4 hours for the Standard Range and 4 to 4.5 hours for the Long Range.

The Long Range version's electric motor delivers 40 horsepower (hp), while the Standard Range variant offers 34 hp, both delivering 100 Nm of torque. To provide perspective, the Wuling Air EV offers greater power, range, and battery capacity.

The E1 Series comes equipped with electronic power steering, LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), 13-inch wheels, a seven-inch digital instrument panel, tire pressure monitoring, a reverse camera, hill start assist, and cruise control.

The Long Range model adds roof rails, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic parking brake (with auto brake hold), ESC, traction control, and brake assist to its features.

In terms of pricing, the E1 sits at a relatively higher range compared to its rivals. The compact EV starts around Rs. 3.6 million and escalates to a significant Rs. 4.1 million. Nevertheless, it will present strong competition against competitors like the Chery QQ, Changan Lumin Corn, and MG Comet EVs.
