E-Bike Distribution Date Declared by Punjab Authorities

Speaking at the Punjab Assembly in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the government will begin distributing electric bikes on July 10. This distribution is part of a broader initiative under her administration. Nawaz highlighted the significance of this move as a step towards promoting environmentally friendly transportation options among the youth of Punjab.

During her address, Maryam Nawaz reflected on the achievements of her government’s first 100 days. She proudly mentioned the presentation of a historic, tax-free budget, ensuring no new taxes for the citizens of Punjab. This budget aims to alleviate financial burdens on the populace while promoting economic stability and growth within the province.

In addition to the e-bike distribution, the Chief Minister announced the revival of the laptop scheme, with an allocated budget of 10 billion rupees. This program aims to provide laptops to students, enhancing their educational experience and accessibility to technology. Nawaz also emphasized her government’s commitment to education by outlining plans to enroll out-of-school children, ensuring every child in Punjab has access to schooling.

On the healthcare front, Nawaz highlighted the provision of free medicines and treatment at public hospitals, demonstrating her administration’s dedication to improving public health. She also outlined initiatives to support farmers, such as interest-free loans and subsidies for agricultural machinery, aiming to bolster the agricultural sector and support rural economies.

Notably, on April 12, Maryam Nawaz launched the Chief Minister Youth Initiative to provide 20,000 bikes, including electric bikes, to students through affordable monthly installment plans. Male students can pay Rs 11,676 per month, while female students can avail the offer at Rs 7,325 per month. The distribution plan ensures equity, with a 50/50 quota for male and female students in urban areas and a 70/30 split in favor of male students in rural areas. This initiative not only promotes green transportation but also aims to empower the youth with accessible mobility options.
