E-Bike Handover to Students Starts by Punjab CM
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative 'E-bike program, symbolically handing over the first E-bike to a college student from Jampur. This initiative aims to provide students with modern and sustainable transportation options, enhancing their mobility and convenience.
Vehicle Inspection Project
During the launch, Maryam Nawaz introduced the Vehicle Inspection Regime for Private Vehicle Project. This project aims to ensure better maintenance and safety of private vehicles on the roads, contributing to a safer driving environment.
E-Loader Rickshaw License
The Chief Minister awarded the first e-loader rickshaw manufacturing license to Nawawa Mobilizers Company. This step supports local manufacturing and promotes the use of electric vehicles, which are more environmentally friendly.
Solar Charging Stations
Maryam Nawaz announced phase 2 of the E-bike project, which will establish solar-powered charging stations in colleges and universities. This move is aimed at promoting green energy and making it more convenient for students to charge their E-bikes.
Financial Aid for Students
The Punjab government will cover Rs. 20,000 of the Rs. 40,000 down payment for the E-bikes, making them more accessible. Over 8,000 female students have applied for the program and will receive E-bikes. Additionally, a Rs. 25 billion scholarship program is being introduced to support students who cannot afford higher education.
Green Transport Initiatives
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized efforts to make Punjab greener by transitioning to electric transport. An MoU has been signed to acquire environment-friendly buses, with 27 expected to arrive by December. She also addressed issues related to smog and environmental pollution, highlighting the government's active efforts.
Digitalization and Social Welfare
In a meeting on digitalization, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of fast internet for e-commerce and freelancing opportunities. She advocated for equal implementation of digital projects in rural and urban areas. On World Population Welfare Day, she highlighted the need to balance population growth with available resources. Maryam Nawaz also expressed sorrow over the death of four laborers in a Chakwal coal mine, offering condolences and calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
