E-Cart Service Introduced for Lahore’s Historical Tours

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has introduced electric carts to enhance the visitor experience at Lahore Fort. This initiative aims to provide a more comfortable and accessible way for tourists, especially the elderly and children, to explore the historic site. The electric carts, provided by the Punjab Tourism and Economic Growth Programme (PTEGP), include 10 carts for Lahore Fort and an additional 5 for Shalimar Gardens and Jahangir’s Tomb.

Touring Lahore Fort Made Easy
At Lahore Fort, the 10 electric carts are available to transport visitors to 12 designated stations throughout the fort. Tanya Qureshi, Director at WCLA, highlighted that the service is designed to make the tour easy and enjoyable. Visitors can now explore the fort's rich history without the physical strain of walking long distances, making the site more accessible to all age groups.

User-Friendly E-Cart Service
The E-cart service is straightforward to use, with options to book via phone or at the fort’s booking booth. The service has three main pick-up points: Roshnai Gate, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, and Picture Wall. These carts navigate a well-marked route, stopping at significant landmarks, including Akbari Gate, Shahi Hammam, and Huzoori Bagh, among others.

Affordable and Flexible Touring
The cost of an E-cart ride is Rs. 100 per person, with each tour lasting approximately one hour. Tourists have the flexibility to hop on and off at different stations, allowing them to explore specific areas of interest in detail. This flexibility adds to the overall convenience and enjoyment of the tour.

Boost in Tourism at Lahore Fort
Since the introduction of the E-cart service, Lahore Fort has seen a notable increase in visitor numbers. This success reflects WCLA’s effective efforts to make the fort more accessible and appealing to a broader audience, contributing to the growth of tourism in Lahore.
