Electric Bus Service Launches on New Route in Karachi
Karachi, today, witnessed the inauguration of an extended Peoples Bus Service (PBS) route by the Provincial Minister of Information and Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon. The newly introduced Route 12 spans an impressive 35 kilometers, connecting Khokhrapar to Saddar, and is set to revolutionize the city's public transportation system.
A Step Towards Improved Commuting
The new Route 12 bus service commenced its operations at 03:00 PM, offering an efficient mode of transport for the city's residents. The route will pass through key areas including Saudabad, Kalaboard, Qaidabad, Landhi, Korangi, Qayyumabad, and FTC, ensuring enhanced connectivity and convenience for the commuters.
A Promise of Sustainability
Minister Memon also made an announcement about a significant development in the realm of environmentally friendly transportation in Karachi. A new route for the city's electric bus service was revealed, covering a distance of 18 kilometers from Malir Cantt's checkpost number five to M. A. Jinnah Road. This electric bus route will serve crucial locations such as Safoora Chowrangi, Kamran Chowrangi, Millennium Shopping Mall, Dalmia, Agha Khan Hospital, and Numaish.
Towards a Greener Future
Under the PBS banner, a fleet of 13 electric buses will ply this route, reducing the city's carbon footprint and promoting sustainable transportation options. Minister Memon expressed the government's commitment to expand the electric bus service to other regions in Sindh, subject to demand and feasibility.
