EQE and EQS SUVs by Mercedes Introduce Automated Parking

Today, Mercedes has unveiled the integration of Automated Valet Parking into its EQE SUV and EQS SUV models, expanding the feature that was already present in the EQE and EQS. This enhancement brings SAE Level 4 automated driverless parking, a promising advancement, albeit with a notable limitation—it can only be utilized in one specific location globally: the parking garage P6 at Stuttgart Airport. While the hope is for broader availability in the future, currently, this innovation caters exclusively to Mercedes' hometown residents who own one of the four supported models and have the need to park at the airport.

In essence, this feature's utility is confined to a highly specific use case. For those fortunate few who meet the criteria, the convenience of automated parking is undoubtedly a welcomed addition, especially considering the challenges posed by tight parking spaces in such garages.

Gone are the days of searching for a parking spot or maneuvering your car into position manually. Instead, at the P6 garage in Stuttgart Airport, users can simply drive to the location, exit the vehicle, and instruct it to autonomously park in a pre-booked space via their smartphone. The added benefit of P6's proximity to the terminal building ensures minimal walking distance for users heading to the airport.

To activate this feature, users need only access the services menu on the Mercedes me app. However, it's worth noting a peculiar exclusion—Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes AMG models are currently not supported.
