Government Cracks Down on Gas Cylinder-Fitted Vehicles
In response to mounting safety concerns, Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema has issued a directive to clamp down on vehicles utilizing large gas cylinders. The scope of this order encompasses a wide array of transportation modes, including wagons, minibusses, taxis, rickshaws, Hiace, and coasters, where these cylinders have been substituted for traditional petrol or diesel.
Safety Imperatives Drive Swift Action
Amid escalating worries regarding the safety implications, especially exacerbated during the sweltering summer months, authorities have initiated an immediate crackdown. Talib Hussain, the District Officer of Civil Defense, has underscored the pressing need to prioritize public safety, emphasizing the potential hazards associated with these cylinders.
Rigorous Inspections and Stringent Measures Enforced
Mobilizing teams within Civil Defense, authorities are conducting meticulous inspections and seizing any vehicles found flouting the directive. Drivers found in contravention of the order will face legal repercussions, underscoring the gravity with which this issue is being addressed.
Targeted Operations Underway to Ensure Compliance
The crackdown kicked off on Friday, with focused operations at key transit hubs including Kacheri bus stop, Rawat, Saddar bus stops, Pirwadhai General Bus Stand, Faizabad Bus Stand, and Peshawar Mor Bus Stand. These efforts are set to persist, aiming to ensure adherence to regulations and alleviate the risks associated with the use of large gas cylinders in public transportation.
