The Federal Government of Pakistan is going to initiate a remarkable project of electric train from Islamabad to Murree. In a Tweet, the federal minister for science and technology Fawad Chaudhry said that the electric train from Islamabad airport to Murree is on the cards. According to minister “We have started a study on the project and also had a meeting with planning ministry over it,” Chaudhry further stated that the traveling and tourism will be promoted by launching the project.
Electric Buses in Islamabad
According to the federal minister of science and technology the government is trying its best to start electric public transport in the country and initially around 38 electric buses would be launched in the federal capital, Islamabad. To manufacture the electric buses the government has recently signed two MoUs with two foreign companies. Both companies will bring investment and build manufacturing plants in Pakistan. According to Fawad the project will produce more employment opportunities in the country and would be helpful for better environmental conditions.
EV Charging Stations
The Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry has stated while speaking at the ceremony to sign a MoU between science ministry and British Company, EGV Limited that the government has decided to install electric vehicle charging stations on all motorways.
“In next two to three years, the entire motorway network will shift to EV charging,” the federal minister said. Talking to media, he further said that EGV is Europe’s largest bus manufacturing company, and will make electric buses in Pakistan. “This is the second agreement of current government with a foreign company,” he said. In the first phase, the buses will run in three major cities of the country, i.e., Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
