Govt Establishes Auto Sector Monitoring Committee ASMC

The federal government of Pakistan has set up an Auto Sector Monitoring Committee after the official announcement of the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy AIDEP 2021-26.

According to official document, Auto Sector Monitor Committee ASMC will responsible to monitor the auto manufacturing companies whether they are working according to New Auto Policy 2021 -26 or not. The ASMC will function under the chairmanship of Secretary Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) with representatives from FBR, SBP, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), PAMA, PAAPAAM and CCP.

Duties of ASMC

The duties of committee include:

 Addressing consumer grievances including ‘ON Money’ and delayed deliveries.

 Monitoring, targeting, verification and oversight of localization

 Safeguarding customers on quality issues

 Implementation of WP-29 safety regulations

 Surveillance of minimum initial payment not to exceed 20% of car’s total price

Committee Has Right To Stop Car Companies Incentives

The breaking news here is that the ASMC can stop providing the incentives to automakers because, the document reveals that the committee has right to recommend or stop the incentives for the car companies which are not meeting the criteria as per given in the AIDP 2021-26.

The committee will put an eye to monitor the car companies across the country. The committee will also help in resolving the on money issue the local market as well. The committee will ensure the localization of the industry which is an integral part of the policy. In this way the car prices will not become stable only but also decreased.

The ASMC will help in boosting the performance and production of vehicles makers and help the citizen to reduce the issues actually they are facing as consumer in the local auto industry.
