Honda Atlas Extends Production Halt by One More Week
The challenges faced by the automotive industry, including inventory and parts shortages, persist, and Honda has taken the decision to extend its production shutdown for an additional week.
In an official notification, the company announced the extension of its plant shutdown, originally scheduled from November 1 to November 7, 2023. The notification also emphasized that any updates or changes to this plan would be provided as necessary.
This recent extension follows Honda prior announcement earlier this month when the company had already halted its production for one week, from October 24 to October 31. It's worth noting that Pak Suzuki and Toyota had also opted to temporarily suspend their production operations, underscoring the broader industry challenges.
On a different note, Honda recently implemented a price reduction strategy, lowering its vehicle prices by up to Rs. 300,000. This move aimed to pass on the benefits of the Pakistani Rupee's appreciation against the US Dollar to consumers. Notably, the price of the Civic RS1.5L, the company's most expensive car, was reduced by Rs. 300,000, while the more budget-friendly City MT 1.2L saw a price reduction of Rs. 100,000.
Recent reports had suggested that the import licenses of Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota were canceled. However, the Ministry of Industries denied these reports, clarifying that the issue revolved around the revalidation of import quotas rather than outright cancellations.
