Honda to Launch Hybrid Cars in Pakistan Soon
Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) is optimistic about an upswing in sales for the upcoming days when compared to the previous Market Year (MY2023).
During a recent corporate briefing, HACL revealed that banks have started issuing Letters of Credit (LCs) for the auto industry. The company believes that this will lead to increased sales in MY2024, barring any government-imposed restrictions on automotive imports.
As of now, the car prices are determined based on the current US Dollar rate, which stands at around Rs. 287. However, there is a possibility of car prices rising further if the value of the rupee continues to decline.
HACL emphasized the rate of localization for its various car models, which is as follows:
- Honda City: 71%
- Honda Civic: 61%
- Honda BR-V: 55%
- Honda HR-V: 52%
Looking ahead, Honda has plans to introduce hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in Pakistan. However, specific details regarding the timeline and the models to be launched, as well as whether they will be locally assembled, were not disclosed.
In MY 2023, Honda sold 25,726 cars, a decrease from the 37,613 cars sold in MY 2022. This drop in sales was primarily due to the challenges faced during the period of automotive import restrictions. Nevertheless, the company is determined to enhance these figures in MY 2024.
