You should ensure that cooling system is in working condition.
You need to keep the gas tank half full to avoid gas line freezing.

Prepare Your Vehicle Before Starting: When you have to go out, you need to check your car. You should clean side view mirrors, external camera lenses, snow, ice or dirt from windows or some added driving sensors. You should ensure that you can see everything around you from the vehicle clearly and transparently. When you warm up the car and avoid the poisoning of the carbon monoxide and avoid letting the car run in the garage. You should also inform your family, when you go out of your home during any kind of weather.

Avoid Driving On Icy Roads: If you are worried about bad driving conditions, you need to drive the car on the icy roads. This may not be possible and you can opt to utilize the familiar roads with regular upkeep and plowing or check the news regarding weather or road accidents to avoid worst of icy road conditions.

Accelerate at Slow Speed: If you accelerate the car quickly, your tires will spin quickly and it may lead to lose traction of your tires and the losing of the contact with the road can lead to an accident and you can also lose the control of your vehicle and resultantly the vehicle can slip off the road.

Decelerate Carefully: The sudden acceleration is bad idea and the sudden braking is also not good for the tires. The antilock brakes can be useful to the normal weather conditions and you not depend on this system on the snow and ice. You need to keep the wheels from sliding by slowly pressing on brake pedals. When you do this consistently, you must leave lot of room between you and the vehicle, which is moving ahead of you. It is better for you to stay on the safe side and the distance must be eight to ten seconds. It will not be necessary for you to apply the brakes quickly, if the vehicle in front of you slows down suddenly.

Reduce Your Speed: If the speed of your car is higher, then you can lose control and it will be difficult for you to stop the car. You need to know the traffic speeds and reduce the speeds of your vehicle according to the weather conditions. You do not apply the cruise control if there is storm outside and the temperature is below freezing. You drive the car slowly and it is safe for you to move at 10 mph.

Pull off the Road: If weather condition outside the vehicle is not good and you cannot see well on the road, you need to pull off the road to a safe spot. When the weather conditions are improved and you need to come on the road in clear weather, when you see everything clearly. Bad weather can lead you to an accident with other vehicles as you may lose your direction or control over your car.

Avoid Overcorrecting: If your vehicle is skidding on the icy road, you should remain calm and steer in the direction of slide so that you can keep control on your vehicle. When the wheels gain the traction, do not try to overcorrect the steering to stay driving in your lane. The steering in the direction of the slide can help you to avoid the driving accidents.

If you have a car or vehicle, you need to know that the winter driving conditions can be slipper and unexpected and it is best to adopt safety precautions and you will be able to drive the vehicle safely this winter.
