The Elantra, a part of Hyundai's lineup in Pakistan, has struggled to gain traction in the market. Despite Hyundai-Nishat's relatively strong performance in terms of sales compared to other automakers, the Elantra seems to be an exception, failing to invigorate interest among consumers.

Dismal Sales Performance

In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, Hyundai experienced a mixed bag of results with its various models. While the Sonata and Tucson saw a decline of 17% in sales, the Porter enjoyed a 6% increase. In stark contrast, Elantra suffered a staggering 70% decline in sales, raising concerns about its viability in the Pakistani market.

Hyundai's Countermeasure

In response to the Elantra's underwhelming performance, Hyundai has introduced a limited-time promotion. This offer allows customers to benefit from free registration when booking any variant of the Elantra. The company hopes that this enticing promotion will revitalize consumer interest in the Elantra, ultimately leading to improved sales.

Comparative Pricing and Model

The Hyundai Elantra is currently available in two variants: the 1.6 GL priced at PKR 65.99 lac and the 2.0 GLS variant at PKR 71.30 lac. It's worth noting that the Elantra in Pakistan represents the globally retired 6th-generation model, which was succeeded by the 7th-generation Elantra in March 2020. When comparing its features and equipment to other locally available sedans, the locally assembled Elantra may seem competitive, but it has failed to replicate the success of other Hyundai models in Pakistan.
