Hyundai Santa Fe Set to Debut in Pakistan on October 1st

There has been a persistent rumor circulating regarding the introduction of the Hyundai Santa Fe in Pakistan by Hyundai Pakistan. After sightings of locally assembled units in North Pakistan, we can now confirm that the fourth-generation model of the Santa Fe is indeed making its way to Pakistan, with a scheduled launch date of October 1st, 2023.

Exterior Features
While Hyundai Nishat has teased the Santa Fe's exterior with the message "Innovation Of Wheels," details remain somewhat obscured. However, it is apparent that LED lighting will grace the front of the vehicle. The design includes a cascading wide grille integrated with the headlights, giving the vehicle a broader and sportier appearance. T-shaped LED DRLs are present, and depending on the variants, there might be dual projector high and low beams or dual stacked LED reflector headlights.

The spotted vehicle features aero-type alloy wheels measuring 235/55 R19, and while the tire brand remains unknown, the possibility of an imported brand exists. Other exterior elements include typical roof rails and chrome garnish around the windows. Unlike the overseas model, Pakistani versions will not have a privacy screen for the rear side and back screen.

The rear of the Hyundai Santa Fe will feature LED taillights, an LED high-mount stop lamp, and a rear screen wiper. Overall, the exterior design is modern and appealing, even though the model is approaching its phase-out in the international market.

Interior Teasers
Hyundai Nishat has released two teaser clips focusing on the interior. These teasers reveal customizable ambient lighting for the dashboard and center console. The infotainment screen, however, appears to differ from the overseas models. The Pakistan domestic model will come equipped with a standard 8-inch unit and a 6-speaker audio system, with expected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration along with steering wheel controls.

What to Expect Inside
The interior of the Santa Fe facelift model expected in Pakistan will be high-tech and modern. It features a floating center console with various buttons for HVAC, media, and other functions. The model will adopt a shift-by-wire transmission, similar to the Hyundai Sonata, creating additional storage space beneath the center console.

The availability of features might vary depending on the variant. The overseas model offers heated and ventilated seats, a 10 or 14-way power driver seat with lumbar support, and an 8-way power passenger seat. Additionally, there is a seat walk-in switch on the front passenger seat for rear passengers' convenience.

Typical leather or Nappa leather upholstery is available. Dual-zone climate control with cabin air filtering extends to the second row, while the third row also benefits from air vents and a fan blower for enhanced air circulation. The Santa Fe will feature a power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, power-retractable side-view mirrors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The second-row seats are adjustable, reclining, and foldable, with the third row suitable for small children. LED map lights, vanity lights, and USB ports are standard throughout the cabin.

While a panoramic roof is anticipated, the availability of a heads-up display remains uncertain.

Engine Options
Although no teasers have been released for the engine compartment, confirmed information suggests a variety of engine configurations for the fourth-generation Santa Fe. These include conventional engines such as the 2.5L MPI, 2.5L GDI, 2.0L Turbo GDI, 2.5L Turbo GDI, and 3.5L MPI, as well as a 2.2L diesel engine. The hybrid versions, 1.6L Turbo GDI hybrid and 1.6L Turbo GDI plugin hybrid, are also expected.

The standard hybrid version will offer an electric motor integrated into the transmission, delivering a combined output of 227hp and 350Nm of torque. The plugin hybrid will produce a total of 261hp, combining an engine and an electric motor with a battery pack.

Safety Features
Hyundai Nishat has not released safety-related teasers, but overseas models boast an impressive array of safety features, including airbags, hill start assist, stability control, downhill assist, traction control, and brake assist systems. Active safety features, such as blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane follow, radar, and camera-based forward collision avoidance, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and more, are available.
Vehicle Dimensions
The fourth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe boasts dimensions of 4785mm in length, 1900mm in width, and a wheelbase of 2765mm, with ground clearance of 176mm for overseas models. Fuel tank capacity is 67 liters.

Price Speculation
Given the current economic conditions and fluctuating exchange rates, pricing for the Hyundai Santa Fe in Pakistan remains uncertain. However, it is estimated to be around Rs. 12 to 13 Million, with the possibility of an introductory price followed by adjustments shortly after the launch.

Hyundai Nishat is advised to offer a well-equipped model with a focus on safety features and build quality, considering the economic challenges and high-interest rates affecting car sales in Pakistan. With the production of the fourth-generation Santa Fe ceasing in international markets, Hyundai Nishat may benefit from sourcing discontinued CKD kits and assembly equipment.

The official reveal of the Hyundai Santa Fe in Pakistan is expected within the next two months.
