Hyundai Sonata Expected Price In Pakistan

Hyundai Sonata was publically unveiled in early 2019. The company displayed the DN8/8 generation of the Hyundai Sonata. Hyundai Sonata is a direct competitor to Accord and Camry, the most popular Korean SUVs.



In Pakistan the Hyundai Sonata was introduced in last year, February 2020. The Hyundai Nishat showcased the car publically. The official launch of the Hyundai Sonata is still unconfirmed, but recently it was seen on the Pakistani roads predicting that the SUV is set to hit the Pakistani auto market soon. So let’s see what the company will offer in the form of Hyundai Sonata for Pakistan.



Dimensions

As for the dimensions, the Hyundai Sonata has length of 4900 mm, it is 1860mm wide and 1445mm high and has a wheelbase of 2840mm. It is the only D- segment SUV in Pakistani market.



Exterior

Exterior wise the 8th generation Hyundai is inspired from “Le Fil Rouge concept” that the Hyundai displayed 2018 at Geneva Auto Show. The car has completely latest and revolutionary design and appearance. The Hyundai calls the design of the Hyundai Sonata “Sensuous Sportiness”.  It has four doors like a silhouette on the side profile with a sloping roofline, while the most striking design element is the bold and low wide new front which carries Hyundai new and wide cascading grille.



Additionally, the conventional hood-line across the bonnet we usually see is not there because of the long-elongated bonnet, which overlaps the front grill. LED headlights and LED DRL comes standard on all models. Other exterior features of the Hyundai Sonata include Daytime Running Light/DRL, Chrome Plated Trim, rear with sloppy C-pillar, taillights, reverse lights with reflectors on bumper, the license plate in the middle and LED high mount stop lamp is on the top portion of the rear glass. Sonata has 16″ 17″, 18″ o r even 19″ alloy wheels in the overseas market. Sonata will have most international variant features for Pakistan.



Interior

The Hyundai Sonata 8th generation has the modern and innovative interior as compared to the previous generations. The interior of the Sonata features a slim dashboard design with a user-friendly and intuitive interface for various control, Slim air vents integrated with dashboard, premium quality satin chrome trim pieces, two tone color combination like Beige -Black, Black-gray o r Black on Black, leather and fabric seating surface, A 12.3″ customizable digital LCD cluster, apple car play and android auto integration, multifunction steering wheel, floating infotainment screen in landscape style, 8″ touch screen, a 10.25″ colour touchscreen infotainment system and a Bose premium 12 speaker audio system is also available on upper trim levels.



Basic models come with manual HVAC system, while a dual-zone fully automatic climate control is also available. 6-way driver and 4-way passenger front seat adjustment are standard while it goes to the 8-way driver and 6-way passenger power adjustment with the option of heated and ventilated seats on upper trims along with memory seat function. To maximize the interior space, a drive-by-wire gear shift button type controller is standard across the model range, along with an Electronic Parking Brake and auto hold.



Convenience features like power-folding heated side-view mirrors, wireless charging, auto-dimming rearview mirror, heads-up colour display is also available depending on the trim level. Panoramic roof, tilt and telescopic heated steering wheels, ambient lighting Hyundai digital key which turns your compatible android phone into a physical key is also available. Hyundai also offers Blue Link services in North American market, which includes remote start with climate control, on-demand diagnostic, lock unlock, remote designation push to the car navigation system as well as remotely monitoring car status.

Mechanicals

Hyundai Sonata comes in various engine options globally like 1.6 T-GDI with 178 HP o r 2.5L T-GDI with 290HP. A 2L 192 HP GDI Hybrid o r 2L 202HP Plugin Hybrid is also available. Depending on engine type, there is either 6 o r 8 speed automatic o r 8-speed Dual clutch transmission.



There are two more engine options and these are the ones we can see on the import documents/ CKD kits for Pakistan and we know these already. A 2 L 158HP/ 196NM MPI [Multi-Point Injection] and a 2.5L 178HP/ 232NM MPI engine.
Both engines will be mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and we can expect same Hyundai Nishat will offer the 2L engine on the base variant of the Sonata while the other version will carry the 2.5L.

The Sonata has McPherson Strut front while Multilink standard rear suspension. The ventilated-on front, while solid disc on the rear, are also standard across the model lineup. Motor-driven power steering, as well as 4 drive modes Smart, Comfort, Eco & Sport, are also there, along with steering-mounted paddle shifters.

Safety

For safety, Sonata has Anti-Lock Brake System ABS, Electronic Stability Control ESC, Hill-Start Assist Control HAC, Brake Assist System BAS, Vehicle Stability Management VSM and Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS. In overseas market, Sonata comes with front side [both front and rear passages] and curtain airbags, and a drive knee airbag is also standard feature.

Hyundai Sonata will also have Forward collision warning, Lane Keep assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver attention warning, Smart Cruise control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear cross-traffic alert, Safe Exit waring [it alerts occupants while opening the doors if there is upcoming traffic behind], High Beam Assist, Auto headlights, Area Surround view monitor as well as a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines. Sonata also comes with a Blindspot side-view monitor, which displays the side view in the digital cluster.

Not sure all above features will be in a Pakistani assembled Sonata, but it will comewith front and side airbags, as well as the Hill Start, Stability Control, Brake Assist. We can expect the Blind-spot side view monitoring as well as the surround-view monitor, which we have also known as the 360 cameras. The base model might not get all the safety gear.

Price

Sonata will be offered around 7.5 +/- Million for the base model while it can touch 8+/- Million o r can even go above 9 Million for the 2.5L top of the line loaded version. This way Sonata price bracket will be the same figures as 7-seater Sorento from KIA.
