Islamabad Metro Bus Service Permanently Discontinued

Islamabad Metro Bus Service Permanently Discontinued
In an unexpected development, the Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) has decided to permanently end the Islamabad Express Metro Bus Service, a project initiated just last year.
This decision stems from financial limitations and a shortage of vehicles, leaving commuters dissatisfied with the abrupt termination of a service that promised a faster and more efficient travel experience.
Initially earning praise for its time-saving benefits, the Express Metro Bus Service, covering seven stops between Saddar in Rawalpindi and the Pakistan Secretariat in Islamabad, has now been discontinued due to the allocation of only seven vehicles out of the designated 68 for the express service. Financial challenges have further contributed to this decision, prompting a return to the traditional bus service with all 24 stops.
Uzair Shah, the PMA General Manager Operations, emphasized the financial strain caused by the express service, leading to its cessation. Consequently, all metro buses operating between Rawalpindi and Islamabad will now resume stopping at all 24 bus stations.
The previously closed 6th Road bus station is expected to reopen soon after minor pending work is completed. However, there are speculations of bureaucratic hurdles surrounding its functionality, and its reopening has been postponed to organize a 'special function' attended by caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, facing challenges in securing a suitable date for his presence in the garrison city.
The abrupt discontinuation of the Express Metro Bus Service has garnered criticism from commuters who benefited from its time-saving advantages. It also raises concerns about the financial management and planning that led to the premature end of the project. Share your thoughts on this move in the comments section below.
