Islamabad New e-Challan System for Traffic Violations

Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) has made a decision about implementing an electronic system or digital system to punish the lawbreakers to control the rising traffic violation.
For several violations of traffic rules, the latest e-system will charge motorcars and other vehicle owners automatically. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Mustafa Tanveer told to the Daily Times that the department is trying to bring the ICPT’s challan system parallel to the international standards. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Mustafa Tanveer added:
“Get on with technological advancement, we has decided to launch an automatic system with lesser human beings interaction to control the traffic violations problems”.

The CCTV will take picture of the vehicle’s number plate when a violation happens. The department has merged absolute traffic laws into the system to recognize offenses and take action appropriately.
Dr. Mustafa Tanveer told that the system-linked CCTV will trace violations according to codes given to each offense. The detected vehicle by the CCTV registration numbers will be given into the electronic system, and the vehicle owners will get a penalty unquestionably.

If the criminals will not pay their challans within the given time, their vehicles will be seized and demolished. Dr. Mustafa Tanveer noted that ICTP notified all provincial duty and taxation departments to acquire registered vehicle details.

In the beginning, Dr. Mustafa Tanveer said that just Capital and Punjab numbers could be added to the system. He added:
"As per an assessment, most of the vehicles plying in the ICT are having registration with Islamabad and Punjab respectively, that’s why only these both stations are yet made part of strategy".
Dr. Mustafa Tanveer said that ICTP will merge the remaining province’s registration databases once the system will become fully operational.
