Islamabad New Electric Vehicle Charging Station
The Minister of Science and Technology has announced that the new electric vehicle charging station is built in Islamabad. This is the first ever electric vehicle charging station being established in the capital city. The opening of the EV charging stations was the target of the Ministry of Science and Technology to encourage the E vehicles as the future transportation. This EV charging station has been established at Jinnah Avenue and it is considered as the second EV charging station being developed in Islamabad. It is pertinent to mention that the first ever EV charging station was installed in Kohsar Market, F-6 by BMW about 3 years ago. There are different EV charging stations, which were established in Lahore and Karachi. The government is going to develop other stations to have Pakistan switch to electric power with the approval of first EV policy last month. The first phase of the EV policy is intended to benefit light and heavy commercial vehicles drivers and the bike and rickshaw drivers. The Federal Minister has also said that the government placed an open invitation to the electric automaker to set up the manufacturing plants in Pakistan. It is also said that the government would charge only 1% duty on the setting up of the EV manufacturing plants in the country. The Ministry of Science and Technology is working on the policy to shift the vehicles on battery in the future.
