Italy Reportedly To Get EV Charging Highway Soon
In promising news, testing for Italy's first electric vehicle charging highway is about to begin. An Israel-based company, Electron Wireless, is reportedly building a one-kilometer electric highway from Milan to Brescia in Italy.
According to Interesting Engineering report, this will not be the world's first electric vehicle charging highway, but the technology used to charge electric vehicles in such a project will be truly new.
Project workers say the electric vehicles will be equipped with copper coils on both sides of the road. The coils transmit the magnetic input power directly to the batteries without charging the EV.
The report further indicates that copper coils are being installed under the floor and will have a charge rate capacity of up to 70 kW. Although the configuration will not be enough to extend the battery life of the vehicles while driving, this technology will allow the vehicles to be permanently maintained throughout the trip.
The report also claims that these projects are also started in various parts of the worls. However, technology adoption is said to be a matter of time and resources, so it will be some time before this technology becomes common around the world.
