Kia EV5 at PAPS 24: Official Pricing and Specs Breakdown

The Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024 has officially kicked off, showcasing an exciting lineup of new vehicles. One of the most anticipated launches at the event is Kia's electric vehicle, the Kia EV5. After sharing the international specifications and features of this innovative car, Kia Pakistan has now revealed the official details for the local market, providing potential buyers with valuable insights.

Variants of the Kia EV5

Kia has introduced two distinct variants of the EV5: the Kia EV5 AIR, designed for short-range travel, and the Kia EV5 EARTH, which offers long-range capabilities. These variants cater to different needs, ensuring that consumers have options that fit their lifestyle and driving requirements.

Performance and Range Specifications

In terms of performance, the AIR variant features a front motor, delivering a maximum power output of 160 kW. In contrast, the EARTH variant is equipped with both front and rear motors, generating a combined power of 230 kW. The torque figures reflect this difference, with the AIR producing 310 Nm and the EARTH reaching an impressive 480 Nm. Both models boast a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour, with the AIR variant accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and the EARTH variant achieving this in a swift 6.5 seconds. The all-electric range is also noteworthy, with the AIR variant offering 490 kilometers per charge, while the EARTH extends this to 620 kilometers.

Charging Capabilities

Charging time varies between the two variants. The AIR model utilizes a 6.6 kW charger (single-phase) that takes approximately 9 hours and 43 minutes for a full charge, whereas the EARTH variant features an 11 kW charger (three-phase), reducing the charging time to around 8 hours. Fast charging capabilities allow the AIR to charge from 10 to 80% in about 57 minutes with a 50 kW charger, while the EARTH takes about 72 minutes. Both variants can also utilize a 350 kW charger, achieving full charge in roughly 36 minutes.

Exterior and Interior Features

Both variants of the Kia EV5 come equipped with stylish LED headlights, Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), and LED taillights. Standard features include electric mirror functions, heated and electric mirror adjustments, and solar glass for enhanced visibility. The EARTH variant offers additional luxuries such as a panoramic sunroof and power tailgate, which are not available in the AIR model. Inside, the AIR variant features fabric and artificial leather seat coverings, while the EARTH variant boasts premium one-tone artificial leather. Both models provide ample tech, including a digital driver cluster, touchscreen infotainment, and advanced audio systems.

Safety Features

Safety is a priority for Kia, with both variants equipped with essential safety features like ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, and six airbags. The EARTH variant offers advanced safety enhancements such as Driving Assist, Blind View Mirror, and a Fingerprint Authentication system. These features ensure a secure driving experience for all passengers, aligning with modern safety standards.

Pricing Details

Kia has set the pricing for the EV5 variants as follows: the AIR variant is priced at Rs. 18,500,000, while the EARTH variant is available for Rs. 23,500,000. With these offerings, Kia aims to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market in Pakistan, catering to the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
