Lahore Introduces Online Driving Test Service
As part of the ongoing Online Driving License initiative, the e-Khidmat Markaz at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) has introduced the Driving Test Service. This marks the initial phase of a comprehensive plan to expand this service to all e-Khidmat Marakiz in Punjab.
To ensure the seamless integration of the Driving Test Service into the existing e-Khidmat framework, a meeting was conducted as part of the pilot project. This step demonstrates a commitment to thorough planning and implementation in order to enhance the overall driving license initiative.
In the past, the caretaker government had introduced several online facilities to simplify the process of obtaining a driving license. Just last month, the traffic police announced that citizens could conveniently renew their learner’s permits from the comfort of their homes through online platforms.
Highlighting the positive impact of these online initiatives, the Lahore Traffic Police disclosed that the introduction of such facilities is expected to reduce the rush at Facilitation Centers by a significant 90%. This not only streamlines the process for applicants but also contributes to more efficient public service.
Adding to the recent developments, the provincial authorities officially implemented higher driving license fees earlier this month. As per a statement from the Lahore Traffic Police on X, citizens can now acquire their car and motorcycle learner’s permits for Rs. 500, valid for a duration of up to five years. This adjustment in fees aligns with the ongoing efforts to modernize and optimize the licensing process for the benefit of the public.
