Lotus Introduces the Emeya Electric Grand Tourer

Geely, known for its revival of underperforming brands like Volvo and Proton, has set its sights on transforming Lotus. Under the influence of this Chinese automotive giant, the British marque has introduced the Emeya, an electric grand tourer.

The global debut of the Emeya, Lotus's inaugural four-door hyper-GT, occurred in the heart of New York City, USA. This unveiling was part of a three-day immersive brand event at Studio Emeya, celebrating Lotus's past, present, and future.

Lotus claims that the Emeya sets a new standard for the brand by merging 75 years of engineering and design expertise with cutting-edge technology. The result is an electric vehicle that promises a thrilling driving experience and outstanding performance.

Among the Emeya's advanced features are an innovative active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler, all contributing to enhanced aerodynamics. These elements not only improve driving stability but also elevate the GT segment's ride and handling standards, thanks to the car's low center of gravity, referred to as "hyperstance" by Lotus. Additionally, the Emeya boasts an electronically controlled air suspension system.

This sophisticated system adjusts the vehicle automatically based on real-time data from onboard sensors, which analyze the road conditions at an astonishing rate of 1,000 times per second, ensuring an exceptionally smooth ride.

The top-tier Emeya model boasts Lotus's high-power dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, achieving a top speed of over 250 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.8 seconds, positioning it among the fastest electric GTs worldwide.

Lotus has further enhanced the Emeya's performance with industry-leading charging capabilities. Using a 350kW DC fast charger, it can extend its range by up to 150 km in just five minutes and charge up to 80% in just 18 minutes.

To minimize its environmental impact, Lotus built the Emeya using cutting-edge sustainable materials, many of which are sustainably sourced. These materials include PVD aluminum, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU, along with a luxurious thread crafted from recycled fibers sourced from the fashion industry.

The Emeya is equipped with an immersive audio system developed in partnership with KEF, ensuring an unparalleled musical experience for all occupants. This system features Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound, a first for Lotus, and KEF's award-winning Uni-Q speaker design along with a space-saving Uni-Core subwoofer enclosure.

Production of the Emeya is set to commence early next year, with Lotus promising to release more details about the vehicle's availability and pricing in due course.
