Mercedes Launches Its First Exclusive Charging Hub in Europe
Mercedes-Benz took a significant stride in advancing its electric mobility vision today with the inauguration of its inaugural branded charging hub in Europe. This milestone comes on the heels of recent hub openings in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and Chengdu and Foshan in China, underscoring the brand's commitment to a global electric future.

The German hub, strategically situated at the Mercedes subsidiary in Mannheim within the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, a pivotal transportation corridor, boasts six robust charging points, each delivering an impressive 300 kW output. The design ensures maximum energy transfer to the charging vehicle, enabling certain models to achieve a remarkable 70% charge in less than 20 minutes.
Open to vehicles of all sizes, the hub extends a warm welcome to Mercedes owners, offering exclusive perks such as plug-and-charge support, a special introductory rate, and complimentary charging through the Mercedes me Charge service during the initial months. However, the facility is not limited to Mercedes vehicles, welcoming all electric vehicles to utilize its amenities.
Enhancing user convenience, the hub integrates with the Mercedes navigation system, enabling owners to book charging points in advance. With generously sized parking spaces, a drive-through option, and proximity to a Mercedes subsidiary, patrons can comfortably wait for their vehicles to charge.

Sustainable practices are a focal point of the hub's design, featuring a photovoltaic canopy for weather protection and renewable energy contribution. LED indicators relay real-time information on charging point availability and status.
Looking forward, Mercedes plans to collaborate with energy giant E.ON to develop future hubs across Europe. The brand aims to establish over 2,000 proprietary hubs globally by the end of the decade, encompassing more than 10,000 fast charging points. By the close of 2024, 2,000 hubs, including 200 in Europe, will be operational. Additional Mercedes charging hubs are slated for launch in the US and China later this year, with plans for expansion into Italy, Spain, and France starting in 2024.
