MG Cyberster Debuts at Thai Motor Expo
The ongoing 40th Thailand International Motor Expo has become a stage for MG to showcase one of its most significant models in recent years—the MG Cyberster EV. This marks the first preview of the roadster in the ASEAN region, representing the iconic British brand's foray into this market since its acquisition by China's SAIC in 2005. The MG Cyberster is prominently displayed at Challenger 1, Impact Muang Thong Thani, captivating audiences until December 11.
At the heart of the Cyberster's allure is its striking and athletic overall design, complemented by scissor doors and a wine-red interior crafted from premium materials. The exhibited unit boasts the top-spec trim, featuring a dual-motor setup that generates an impressive 536 hp of power and 725 Nm of torque, all powered by a substantial 77 kWh battery capacity. Its remarkable acceleration capability allows it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in a mere 3.2 seconds.
What adds an intriguing element to the presentation is the fact that the MG Cyberster on display at the 2023 Thai Motor Expo is a left-hand drive model. Notably, Thailand is a right-hand drive country, and the press release emphasizes that this occurrence is a first for both Thailand and the broader ASEAN region. This raises speculation about MG's intentions to introduce the Cyberster EV in other ASEAN countries, particularly those with left-hand drive systems like the Philippines.

The prevailing expectation is that MG will officially launch the Cyberster EV in the Philippines and Thailand around the middle of 2024, subsequently expanding its availability to other ASEAN markets. This move reflects MG's strategic approach to further establishing its presence and impact in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape within the ASEAN region.
