MG Launching Affordable Mini EV in India

The Wuling Honguang Mini EV has become a success story in China, prompting the automaker to explore other markets. As a result, MG, the sister company of Wuling, recently announced the launch of its Air EV in India under the "Comet" nameplate.

Design and Performance

While the China-spec Mini EV features a boxy design and compact body, the MG Comet boasts a futuristic appearance. It features modern styling elements such as a revised front and rear fascia, new windows, headlights, taillights, and wheels. Reports suggest that the Comet will have a single electric motor that can deliver up to 68 horsepower to the rear wheels. Its 28 kWh lithium-ion battery pack can provide a range of up to 300 kilometers.

Features

MG's parent company, SAIC Motors, reports that the new GSEV platform offers internet connectivity, driver assistance systems, parking assistance, and voice control. With these features, the MG Comet is set to become a formidable rival to other modern EVs.

Launch and Price of the MG Comet

MG plans to launch the Air EV in India in April 2023 as a locally assembled vehicle. The company will reveal the price and features of the EV on the day of launch.
