MG Pakistan Announces New Variants for MG HS
After the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced the upcoming opening of letters of credit (LCs) for the car industry, automakers are now preparing to take advantage of the opportunity to boost their sales and profits. One such company, MG Pakistan, is planning a significant expansion in its lineup to achieve this goal. Despite earlier teasers from MG's Poster boy Javed Afridi about various cars on social media, no concrete information was available until now.
In a recent announcement, MG Pakistan revealed its intention to launch two new variants of its crossover, the 'MG HS': the 2.0 AWD and Excite models. This strategic move aims to strengthen MG's market presence and enhance its competitive position against rival car manufacturers. Interestingly, this time the news comes from official sources, not just Javed Afridi's tweets.

MG Pakistan plans to diversify its offerings further by entering the sedan segment. The company is considering introducing the MG GT as its first sedan for the local market. However, specific details regarding the launch dates, features, and prices of these upcoming cars are yet to be disclosed. Nevertheless, these new models are anticipated to pose a serious challenge to the existing crossover SUVs that currently dominate the market.
Despite the ongoing economic challenges, MG Motors has managed to sell 15,000 units of MG HS in the past two and a half years, which signifies a positive response from Pakistani consumers. Encouraged by the country's automotive potential, MG Motors remains optimistic about the future prospects of the market.
Presently, MG's manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce 25,000 vehicles annually. However, due to the existing economic situation, the monthly production output has been constrained to 400 cars.
