New Jeep Compass Facelift Unveiled in India, Costs 20.49 Lac

Jeep India has unveiled the refreshed Compass SUV, introducing a new 4X2 variant known as the Black Shark Edition. The updated Jeep Compass lineup offers pricing ranging from INR 20.49 lac for the base model to INR 23.99 lac (ex-showroom) for the top-end version equipped with an automatic transmission.

2.0-liter Multijet Diesel Engine Powers 2WD Variant
Powering the 2WD variant of the Jeep Compass is a 2.0-liter Multijet diesel engine with an impressive 168hp/350Nm output. This variant features the same nine-speed automatic gearbox as the higher 4WD AT models. Notably, Jeep boasts one of the quickest 0-100kmph acceleration times in its class, clocking in at just 9.8 seconds.

Stylish Exterior and Feature-Rich Interior
The Black Shark package brings a distinct exterior style to the Jeep Compass, featuring 18-inch blacked-out wheels, a gloss black grille, and black inserts on the lower half of the bumper. Inside, the cabin adopts an all-black theme with red accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. Despite being lower-spec variants, Jeep continues to offer features like a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and connected car technology. Additionally, this 2WD diesel AT variant boasts an ARAI-claimed mileage of 16.2 km/l.

Competitive Pricing and Expanded Transmission Options
Following the discontinuation of the petrol engine earlier this year, the starting price of the Jeep Compass has seen a significant increase, surpassing its traditional rivals. However, with the introduction of the new 4X2 diesel AT variants, the Jeep Compass now competes favorably with the top-tier models of competitors like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Harrier, and Tata Safari, all at a more competitive starting price. Jeep has also expanded the availability of automatic transmission options to lower trim levels, resulting in a substantial 20% reduction in pricing for automatic transmission models compared to previous offerings. This reduction lowers the entry-level variant cost by nearly INR 6 lac.

Exceptional Value in International Markets
Taking exchange rates into account, the Jeep Compass Black Shark Edition, priced at INR 20.49 lac, converts to PKR 73.05 lac, making it more affordable than the decade-old 11th-generation Toyota Corolla in Pakistan. Notably, the Corolla is priced as high as PKR 74.29 lac for the 1.6L Altis X CVT Special Edition, PKR 77.59 lac for the 1.8L Altis X Grande CVT (beige interior), and PKR 77.99 lac for the 1.8L Altis X Grande CVT (black interior).
