New Suzuki Every vs. Old Suzuki Bolan: What’s Different?

After a two-year wait, the locally assembled Suzuki Every has finally arrived in Pakistan, taking the place of the Suzuki Bolan. This new model offers a significant upgrade in technology and features compared to the Bolan, which dates back to the 1970s. While the Bolan was discontinued at a price of Rs. 19 lacs, the introductory price for the new Every starts at Rs. 27.499 lacs for the base model and Rs. 28 lacs for the top-line variant. This price increase reflects the advancements that come with the new model.

Legacy of Suzuki Bolan
For four decades, the Suzuki Bolan has dominated Pakistan’s microvan market, establishing itself as the top choice for commercial consumers. Known for its ruggedness, the Bolan has been versatile enough to handle various tasks, from passenger transport to cargo delivery. However, the vehicle lacked modern features and technology, relying on a basic ladder frame chassis and minimal equipment. Recognizing the need for an upgrade, Suzuki decided to discontinue the Bolan after 43 years, introducing the Every as a more advanced alternative.

Features of Suzuki Every
The Suzuki Every is designed for both commercial and family use, particularly the upper VXR variant, which leans more toward family-oriented features. Unlike the Bolan, the Every includes modern amenities such as airbags, MP3 players, air conditioning, ABS, EBD, and anti-pinch windows. These additions make it a more appealing choice for families looking for an affordable, spacious microvan. The VX variant could also serve well as a school pickup or cargo van, although Suzuki has primarily marketed the Every as a family vehicle rather than a commercial option.

Chassis Differences
One of the most significant differences between the Bolan and the Every lies in their chassis design. The Bolan uses a traditional ladder frame, providing strong durability and making it suitable for heavy loads. However, this design results in a harsh ride quality, causing the vehicle to bounce even on flat roads. In contrast, the Every features a monocoque chassis, which integrates the body and frame into a single unit. This design makes the Every lighter and more fuel-efficient, offering a smoother ride by absorbing minor bumps in the road. However, it cannot handle heavy loads as well as the ladder frame.

Comparison Summary
In summary, the Suzuki Every represents a modern alternative to the aging Suzuki Bolan, offering better technology and comfort at a higher price. While the Bolan has been a reliable workhorse for many years, it lacks the advancements that the Every provides. The new model is designed to cater to families and individuals seeking a spacious and practical vehicle for everyday use, marking a significant shift in Suzuki's approach to the microvan market in Pakistan.
