Online Learner's License Application in Punjab: A Quick Guid

In a pioneering initiative, the interim government of Punjab has introduced an online platform for acquiring a learner's driving license. This strategic decision aims to enhance public convenience and streamline the licensing process, addressing the substantial influx of license applications.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi officially launched the online facility on a recent Sunday. In an official statement, Naqvi announced that citizens can conveniently apply through the Punjab Police app, with services extended to 737 police stations and all Khidmat Marakiz throughout Punjab.

To apply online for a learner's license, individuals need to follow these steps:

Create an account on the DLIMS licensing website.
Complete the application form.
Upload the required documents.
Generate a payment slip ID and proceed with payment through ATM, online banking, or mobile banking channels.

The necessary documents for the online application include the applicant's picture, scanned copies/pictures of the front and back of the original CNIC, and a medical certificate signed by a government doctor for applicants above 50 years of age.

It is noteworthy that the provincial cabinet had earlier sanctioned a substantial increase in learner's driving license fees, raising the fee from Rs. 60 to Rs. 1000—an increment of 1566%. However, citizens have a grace period until December 31 to obtain their licenses at the current rate. Commencing January 1, 2024, a revised fee structure will be implemented.
