Openings Soon: Cavalry, Walton Rd & Ghora Chowk Traffic

The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has delivered positive news for Lahore residents, particularly those commuting to DHA, Cantt, and Walton Road. Naqvi took to Twitter to announce the forthcoming opening dates for Cavalry Ground Underpass, Walton Road, CBD Main Boulevard, and Ghora Chowk to the public.

Expressing satisfaction, Naqvi tweeted, "Just inspected Walton Road, Cavalry Ground Underpass, and CBD main boulevard – all set, Alhamdulillah." He provided specific opening dates in the same tweet:
  • Walton Road: Ready by January 31, 2024.
  • Cavalry Ground Underpass: Opening in 4 days on November 26, 2023.
  • CBD Main Boulevard unveiling on December 31, 2023.
  • Ghora Chowk Flyover set to open to the public by December 7, 2023.
Construction on these projects began in September 2023 to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly at Cavalry Ground Chowk, known for significant jams during rush hours. The completion of these projects within approximately three months is a testament to the swift work by companies and authorities.

Walton Road, a crucial link between DHA and Ferozepur Road, previously faced persistent heavy traffic. With these projects' completion, a continuous flow of traffic is anticipated, easing the burden on surrounding roads.

Earlier, the caretaker government successfully finished the Kalma Chowk underpass project to facilitate smooth traffic from Kalma Chowk to Liberty Market and Firdous Market. The impact of these underpasses and flyovers on overall traffic and congestion reduction remains to be seen.
