Over 100 Speeding Vehicles Filed on Major Highways

In a bold move to boost road security, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have launched a vigorous operation targeting excessive speed, lodging 112 legal cases against motorists clocked above 150 km/h across prominent highways.

Enforcement Spanning Key Routes

This stringent initiative covers vital roadways such as the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11), Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), Lahore-Multan Motorway (M-3), Multan-Pindi Bhattian Motorway (M-4), and Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M-5). A spokesperson from NH&MP revealed that offenders were slapped with penalties, apprehended with their cars, and then handed over to nearby police precincts, facing accusations of careless and hazardous driving.

Breakdown of Legal Actions

Here’s a detailed look at the cases filed across these highways:
HighwayNumber of Cases
M-2 (Lahore-Islamabad)43
M-5 (Sukkur-Multan)41
M-4 (Multan-Pindi Bhattian)12
M-3 (Lahore-Multan)8
M-11 (Lahore-Sialkot)8
These statistics highlight the widespread issue of speeding, especially on busy corridors.

Speed Regulations and Risks

Authorities from NH&MP stressed that private cars on three-lane highways are limited to 120 km/h, while public buses must not exceed 110 km/h. Breaching these rules isn’t just a minor infraction—it threatens the well-being of everyone traveling these roads.

Tough Orders from Leadership

Inspector General Riffat Mukhtar Raja has commanded all units to heighten surveillance and show no leniency toward speed violations. The NH&MP pledges to uphold traveler safety through relentless enforcement. Earlier, Raja ordered a total prohibition of vehicles surpassing 150 km/h, coupling fines with legal filings for those caught.

Plea to Drivers Worldwide

Motorists are encouraged to heed these speed caps, not only to dodge punishment but to preserve human lives—including their own. NH&MP reinforces that highway safety is everyone’s duty. No trip is worth a tragedy that could’ve been avoided. Reducing speed might just save a life.
