Pakistan Railways Offers 50% Fare Discount

The Pakistan Railways Department has announced a reduction in train fares across different classes, a decision attributed to a decrease in diesel prices. An official notification has been issued, indicating the immediate implementation of the fare reduction. This adjustment will benefit passengers traveling shorter distances, spanning from one to 200 kilometers, across all classes of trains, with notable reductions observed in the economy and AC classes.

The notification specifies that economy class fares on certain routes have been decreased by as much as 54 %. For instance, the minimum fare for the economy class on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been reduced by Rs. 150, now standing at just Rs. 100. Additionally, fares for the Khyber Mail route, covering distances ranging from 1 km to 130 km, have been adjusted to Rs. 100 from the previous Rs. 250.

Passengers opting for the AC class will also benefit from reduced fares, with up to a 40 % decrease observed across various routes. This decision aims to make train travel more affordable and accessible for passengers, aligning with the recent decrease in diesel prices and catering to individuals traveling shorter distances within Pakistan.
