Petrol Price Remains Unchanged in Pakistan - 16 March 2025

The Government fuel decision has been announced, confirming that the petrol price Pakistan will remain the same for the next fortnight, starting from March 16, 2025. The Finance Division officially declared this move, providing relief to consumers amid economic challenges and fluctuations in global oil markets.

The fuel price update states that the petroleum rates Pakistan will remain steady. The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) stays at Rs. 258.64 per litre, while remain petrol priced at Rs. 255.63 per litre. Similarly, Kerosene Oil will continue at Rs. 168.12 per litre, and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) will be Rs. 153.34 per litre. With petrol price unchanged, consumers can expect continued petrol price stability across the country.

Earlier reports suggested a potential decrease of up to Rs. 15 per litre in petrol prices, with High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and Kerosene Oil expected to drop by Rs. 8 and Rs. 10 per litre, respectively. However, the latest fuel prices confirm no such reductions.

Fuel Taxes & Pricing Policy
Although the General Sales Tax (GST) remains zero-rated, the government continues to impose approximately Rs. 76 per litre in taxes on petrol and diesel. This includes a petroleum development levy (PDL) of Rs. 60 per litre, which has the potential to rise to Rs. 70 per litre. Additionally, customs duty of Rs. 16 per litre and Rs. 17 per litre in distribution and dealer margins further add to the overall fuel cost Pakistan. While many consumers expected a reduction in fuel prices, the government’s taxation policies will ultimately determine whether any relief is provided in the future.
